If adventure has a name ... it must be "Archaic1"!

Topic: Members

Yesterday, we posted a 2000 interview with archaeologist Marilyn Kerns.  Today, let's catch up with Marilyn.  What has she been up to for the past eight years?

GV: Do you still play games on Gamesville?  What are some of your current favorites?
MK: Oh yes,  I like Bingo – I don’t have a particular favorite, I mostly bounce between them.

Are you still an archaeologist? Any exciting expeditions you’ve been on since we last spoke?
Yeah.  The last big one I did was the Schoonmaker Property built in 1708 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  We found an intact kitchen with old English plates and buttons, some from the Civil War.  Really cool stuff.

Any cool travelling you’ve done for work or for fun?
My husband and I took a trip out West for three weeks visiting friends and relatives.  We missed a major snowstorm here!  We traveled by “Hey, that road looks good - let’s take it!” We met a lot of interesting people that way.  One person we met was a Hopi silversmith.  We spoke with him for two hours. He was one of the Navajo code talkers during World War .  He told us he was going to retire, but 4 young men came up to him and said that they wanted to learn silversmithing.

Being an archaeologist, are you looking forward to the next Indiana Jones movie?
Oh, yeah.  I like the Indiana Jones movies, but being an archaeologist is nothing like that. We don’t rip out objects out and run away.  Everything has to be carefully measured, photographed, and drawn.  I don’t get shot with a lot of arrows!
